Florence Marilyn Burnside

Florence Marilyn Burnside, 75, of Bedford died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2008, at her home after a short illness. She was the loving wife of her late husband, Robert J. Burnside. They were married 39 years.

Born May 22, 1933 in Dover, N.J., Florence was a daughter of the late Leo William Miller and Stella Fichter Miller.

Florence worked for 13 years as a record tester for R.C.A. of Rockaway, N.J. She and Robert were active members of Elks Lodge #782 of Dover, N.J. for many years. They retired to Effort, Pa. in 1989. She has been a Bedford resident since 2005. She was a member of the Blue Ridge Community Church. She loved working puzzles, fixing scrap books and shopping.

"Aunt Flo" is survived by her brother, Roy Miller, of Dover, N.J.; her sister, Gladys Garrison of Lynchburg; a nephew, Warren Garrison, of Flanders, N.J.; and his daughters, Rachael and Kathleen; a niece, Wanda Gilmartin, of Bedford, and her two sons, Kevin and Ryan; Wanda's daughter, Amy Hudkins, of Orlando, Fla.; and daughter, Dana Eames of Bedford. She was a "great-great Aunt" to Dana's children, Benjamin, Braiden, and Lily.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday Sept. 2, 2008, at Tharp Funeral Home and Crematory, Bedford. A viewing will be held Friday, Sept. 5, 2008 at 10 a.m. with the funeral service to follow at

11 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church in Dover, N.J. with the Rev. James Meyer officiating. Interment will follow in Restland Memorial Park in East Hanover, N.J.
