Henry Edward McWane III
Henry Edward McWane III, 78, of Lynchburg, died Monday, Oct. 16, 2006, at Virginia Baptist Hospital. He was the husband of Nancy Lee Holt McWane.
Hank was born June 4, 1928, in Lynchburg, a son of the late Henry Edward McWane Jr., and Fannie Craddock McWane.
He graduated from E.C. Glass High School and Virginia Military Institute. He then joined the U.S. Army Reserves and went to work for the Lynchburg Foundry, where he remained for nearly 40 years. He was a member of Boonsboro Country Club and St. John's Episcopal Church, where he served on the Vestry and taught Sunday school. An avid bird hunter, Hank was also a member of Bob White Lodge.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother, Abram Craddock McWane of Lynchburg; and three daughters, Katharine Lothian McWane Doel, Blanche Roberts McWane, and Nancy Lee McWane.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, 2006, in Spring Hill Cemetery, with the Rev. Michael R. Sullivan officiating.
