James Marshall Couch Jr.
James Marshall Couch Jr. died at the age of 78 on Sunday, Aug. 19, 2007, at his home.
He was born in Lynchburg, on Nov. 7, 1928. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Marshall Couch Sr.
Jim graduated with honors from Virginia Tech in 1950. He was a home builder in the Lynchburg area for the majority of his life. He also served as president of the Home Builders Association of Virginia in 1975. Jim was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church.
James is survived by his wife, Nancy Page Hopkins Couch; and his brother, Dr. and Mrs. Robert L. Couch, of Nags Head, N.C. He is also survived by two daughters and son-in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. James Alan Carwile, of Lynchburg, and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Minton Neal III, of Columbia, S.C. Surviving grandchildren include, Meredith and Morgan Carwile and Rebecca and Frances Neal. His surviving stepsons and daughter-in-laws are, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Garland Milstead III and Mr. and Mrs. Troy Hopkins Milstead. Step- grandchildren include, Eliza, Theodore and Sawyer Milstead.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2007, at St. John's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Michael R. Sullivan officiating.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to St. John's Episcopal Church, 200 Boston Ave., Lynchburg, VA 24503; or Hospice of the Hills, 3300 Rivermont Ave., Lynchburg, VA 24503.
