Janet Robinson Floyd

Janet Robinson Floyd, 56, of Madison Heights, passed Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011. She was the wife of Sherman Floyd Sr. Born Feb. 17, 1954, in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Daisy Robinson.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Sherman Floyd Jr., of Madison Heights and James E. Floyd,of the residence; five sisters, Judy Jennings and husband Joseph, of Altavista, Deirdre Robinson, of Colonial Heights, Deborah Mosley and husband Michael, of Lynchburg, Thalia Robinson, of Petersburg, and Carlesta R. Kirby, of Altavista; two uncles, Alonzo Robinson, of Lynch Station and Ceaser Robinson, of Roanoke; three aunts, Shirley Robinson, of Lynch Station, Myrtle Turner, of Maryland and Atlas Robinson, of Nelson County; mother-in-law, Doris Lyles, of Columbus, Ohio; two brothers-in-law, Harold Godsby, of Portsmouth, Ohio and Michael Godsby, of Columbus, Ohio; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at Shiloh Baptist Church, Leesville Road, Lynch Station, by the Reverend Dr. Mamie Lee. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The remains will lie in state at the church from noon until the hour of service. The cortege will assemble at 12:15 p.m. at the residence of Carlesta Kirby, 1020 Park St., Altavista. Viewing will be held from 1 to 8 p.m. today, Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, at the chapel of the Cook & Minnis Funeral Home of Altavista.
