Jody Martin Obituary
Jody Sue Martin (née Buchanan), 66, of Richmond (formerly of Lynchburg), Va., died peacefully with family on Thursday, on November 6, 2025 after a valiant battle with Alzheimer's disease and cancer.
Jody was born on January 10, 1959 in Youngstown, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Dara Buchanan, in 2013. She is survived by her son, Corey Martin, and his partner, Christian Payne; her father, John Buchanan, and his wife, Shirley; her brother, Mark Buchanan; her brother, Brad Buchanan, and his wife, Cindy; her sister, Trudy Puckett, and husband, Alan; her nieces and nephews, David, Katie, Briana, Jenny, Jaime, Carly, Addy, and Sam; and 11 great-nieces and nephews.
Jody lived a bright, colorful life and was always on the go. She was an incredible mom, daughter, and sister, and she radiated joy and warmth. She never met a stranger, and neither hardship, nor strife could dull her sense of humor. Jody had a deep-seated love of animals, especially dogs, and was known by all of her neighbors as the source of treats for any pet that came to her door. She loved taking walks, music, dancing, and spending time with her friends and family.
Jody's light shone brilliantly in life and her many loved ones will forever reflect her radiance.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to St Mary's Hospital, Sunrise Villa Assisted Living, and Suncrest Hospice in Richmond for their care and compassion towards Jody in her final days.
A celebration of life will be held at Heritage Funeral Service and Crematory on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 2 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to wear bright, colorful clothes.
