John "Jack" Callaham Obituary

John Minton "Jack" Callaham, 69, died peacefully at his home in Atlanta on Monday, March 17, 2008. A native of Lynchburg, VA, Jack graduated from Holy Cross High School and from the General Motors Institute in Flint, MI. He moved to Atlanta in 1956 and worked at General Motors for 32 years before retiring in 1988. Jack is survived by his wife Jane Ellen Collins Callaham; three children, John M. Callaham Jr. and his wife Lisa Bosch Callaham, Margaret Elizabeth "Jill" Callaham, James Stephen Callaham and his wife Jessica Norris Callaham; two brothers, Frank H. Callaham Jr., Thomas M. Callaham; a sister, Helen Callaham Hutter; five grandchildren, Carolyn, Annika, Haley, Ryan, and Madeline Callaham. A talented athlete, Jack excelled in basketball and golf, winning the Macon Peach Blossom in 1969 and eleven club championships at Berkeley Hills Country Club. The club championship trophy now bears his name. He was an avid game player, especially enjoying bridge and Boggle during the yearly Callaham beach trips to Ocean Isle Beach, NC. Jack always will be remembered as a devoted husband and father, a true gentleman, and a great competitor. A funeral mass will be held at All Saints Catholic Church, 2443 Mount Vernon Rd. in Dunwoody on Wednesday, March 19th at 11 a.m. A reception will follow in the social hall. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to Eagle Ranch at P.O. Box 7200, Chestnut Mountain, GA 30502.

Helen & family,
My sincere condolences for the loss of Jack! As a Holy Cross graduate of 1962... I remember the Callahans well, especially you Helen! We both played basketball for Holy Cross Girls Team! My prayers are with you and your family. Therese Barton-Bayse
