Joseph Jennings Obituary

Joe was born on October 16, 1949, in Radford to the late William and Violet Martin Jennings. Joe was a graduate of Brookville High School and a veteran of the US Air Force.

Joe married the love of his life, Patricia Hicks Jennings on October 24, 1970. Their union produced two wonderful children, Jennifer (Joey) in 1976 and Jason (Kian) in 1978. In addition to his wife and children, Joe leaves behind his grandchildren, Brayden and Makynlee Jennings and his sister, Jeanette Seale (Ronnie). Joe is also survived by his beloved fur baby, Oliver and grand fur babies, Afton, Jeter and Ripley.

Joe retired from Verizon Communications and was a member of Impact Church, Marshall Masonic Lodge 39, American Legion Post 16, Brushy Mountain Club and Locust Grove Hunt Club in Bath County VA.

Joe was a man of many talents, but his passion was small engine repair. His happy place was in his garage working on mowers and other lawn equipment. Joe made many friends that will miss his joking nature and his mechanical talents.

A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. on Friday, April 26, 2024, in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Service by Pastor Brad Bell, with burial to follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park with military honors provided by American Legion Post 16.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., today, Thursday, April 25, 2024, at Heritage Funeral Service, 427 Graves Mill Road.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that you consider a donation in Joe's name to Impact Church, 14803 Forest Road, #325, Forest, VA 24551, https://impactforest.churchcenter.com/giving or the Brushy Mountain Club, 1813 Izzak Walton Road, Hurt, VA 24563.

I'm just seeing this now. I'm so sad I did not realize he had passed away. I definitely would have been at his funeral to celebrate his life.
He will be hard to replace. He was my go-to lawn mower guy.
He even replaced the motor in my sewing machine from one to another which even a sewing machine expert was afraid to tackle. He did it quickly and inexpensively!
I used to love going to him and having my blades sharpened while we chatted.
Such a caring, honest gentleman!

He will be sorely missed by many.
My condolences to Patricia and family.

What a great friend and man he was. Charles just loved to go by his house and visit with Joe in his shop. Tricia was a wonderful lady and we enjoyed them so much. We really miss and love you Joe and Tricia. God be with you and your family.
