Lacy White Obituary
Lacy O. White, Sr., age 84, of Rustburg, VA passed away on January 1, 2025. He was the son of the late Grover and Mabel White and is survived by his wife of 43 years, JoAnn White.
Lacy was born on January 25, 1940. He was a proud 1961 graduate of Rustburg High School, served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Kansas during the Vietnam War era. Lacy returned to Lynchburg and had various jobs before beginning a career as a machinist at B&W, Mt. Athos plant. Lacy was a member of Hyland Heights Baptist Church and enjoyed golf, camping and riding his 4wheeler.
In addition to his wife, Lacy is survived by his children, Lacy White, Jr (Lisa), Christy Maloney (Jamie), Karen Layne, and Keith Layne (Jodi); his grandchildren, Megan, Nicholas, Caitlin, Coleen, Madeline, Erin, Kris, Emily Barker (Toby), Jillian, Kaylee, Logan, Lakin, Jedidiah and Kambria; his great-grandchild, Malcolm; his brother Ray White; and a loving extended family.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Pam Fisher; his brother, Mason White; sister, Phyllis Crawford and stepson, Robbie Austin (ch. Olivia Moore and Christian Austin).
A visitation will be held on January 10, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. at Tharp Funeral Home in Lynchburg, VA.
A funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. with Keith Layne officiating.
