Mr. & Mrs. McCluster
I was very saddened to hear of your loss. I worked with Lafe at Lynchburg General Hospital in the lab while he was employed there. I don't have to tell you how intelligent he was. God had given him a great mind and work ethic. I worked the 3-11 shift with him and could always count on our shift running smoothly when he was supervisor. He was very competent in answering all our questions. He was professional, polite and patient in his dealings with us. When our lab director, Mr. McIver, announced that Lafe would be our 2nd shift supervisor, his comment was "Lafe has a can do attitude". He will be missed greatly! I am keeping your family in my prayers.

To Lafe's family,
I loved working with Lafe in the grocery store, (quite a few years ago). His smile is so unforgetable. It not only showed how handsome he was on the outside but how beautiful his soul was on the inside. He was so sweet and he showed that to everyone he came in contact with. Lafe didn't stand around and ask if someone needed help, or wait for them to ask, he just offered help and insisted on helping. He is such an angel, I will never forget him! I am so sorry for your loss and I pray that you can be comforted in the future by the wonderful memories of the past.

I worked with Lafe at MACV for the past few years. From the first moment he arrived we were great friends. I would go down to the lab every morning and get a hug from him to start my day. He would say with a big smile on his face "yeah now that's what I needed". In comfort to you I would say that you now have your own beautiful smiling guardian angel in heaven watching over you! May God bless and keep you during this time of sorrow.

I am one of so many people that could not walk though the halls of MACV without looking for a smile from Lafe. He was one of those kind and generous souls that touched so many- far more than he ever realized. His smile inspires me to pay it forward.

We had the privelage of photographing Lafe's wedding and got to know him a little better through that experience! He truly was one of the nicest, sweetest, coolest guys we have ever met. We also went to school with him and saw him around at different events and every time we did, he always made it a point to come and speak and chat a while! What an awesome person.
