Margaret Beasley Obituary

Margaret Gaskins Beasley, known to most as Peggy, passed away on May 5, 2024, in Lynchburg, Virginia at the age of 83. She was born on February 21, 1941, in Portsmouth, Virginia to Evelyn and Charlie Gaskins, Jr.

Peggy was a kind, friendly, and loving individual, known for her caring nature and self-admitted stubbornness. She attended Woodrow Wilson High School, graduating in 1959. Peggy had a fulfilling career as a secretary at Snead, Payne & McCausland Realty, and later as a customer service representative at C.B. Fleet Co.

In her younger years, Peggy worshipped at Portsmouth Christian Church. She found joy in various hobbies, including reading, crossword puzzles, cross-stitching, and scrolling through Facebook. Peggy dutifully served as treasurer of the local TOPS chapter for 30 years and was a member of a close-knit group of friends called the Golden Girls and the Dark Desert Highway Eagles Group on social media. She was also an avid Virginia Tech sports fan, never missing a game on TV.

Peggy will be deeply missed by her daughter, Kathryn Fiorita; son, Scott Beasley (Noelle Serocki); and grandchildren, Michael Fiorita, and Charly and Finn Beasley. Peggy will also be missed by friends and family members, including lifelong best friend since first grade, Rosemary Vaughan. Peggy and Rosemary shared a birthday and considered each other to be sisters.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Charlie "Binky" Gaskins III; and grandchildren, Sarah Fiorita and Ella and Sawyer Beasley.

A memorial service to honor Peggy's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

A special thank you also goes to Peggy's caregivers at Lynchburg Health and Rehabilitation Center. Take it easy, Mom.

Dear Kathryn, Scott and family,
Recently, I dreamt of Peggy in a beautiful garden laughing and playing with children. There were other familiar adults that I knew were deceased. Peggy walked over and gave me a loving hug, I Woke Up. That's when I researched Lybg obituaries and saw Peggy's beautiful smiling face and knew she had returned to our Ultimate Creator. May She Rest In Peace. And You All have my deepest heartfelt condolences. And know that your Beloved Matriarch"s Light and Love Lives and Shines On. GOD Bless. Affectionately Yours,
