Marjorie Coleman Lipscomb

1924 - 2023

Marjorie C. Lipscomb, passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at the age of 99. She was the wife of the late Houston T. Lipscomb.

Born in Lynchburg on September 10, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Frank Leslie Coleman and Eva Bryant Coleman. She was predeceased by her sister Evelyn Glass and Katherine Wright and her son in law, Stephen Campbell.

Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Andrea Campbell and her son, Tom Lipscomb. Also surviving are her brother, Paul Coleman, and his wife Marie. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Dana Vaughan, and her husband Keith. There are four great grandchildren: Ryan Campbell, Christian Vaughan (Kimber), Ashlyn Vaughan, and Grayson Vaughan, and four great-great-grandchildren; Karley, Kurt, Stevie-Grace, and Axl. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. She was the matriarch of 5 living generations.

Marjorie, called Bee by her family and friends, was a graduate of E.C. Glass High School and was a homemaker. She enjoyed family vacations, needlework, cooking for her family, and playing Canasta. She was a charter member of the Scottish Rite Women's Club, and attended Quaker Memorial Presbyterian Church for many years.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Fort Hill Memorial Park with the Rev. Dr. Robert A. Putt officiating.

At Marjorie's request, there will be no visitation. Her daughter and son will be unable to receive visitors.
