Mary Elizabeth Tucker

Mary Elizabeth Phipps Tucker Mary Elizabeth Phipps Tucker, 87, of Temperance, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2013, at her home. Born in Williamson, West Virginia, February 18, 1926, Mrs. Tucker was the daughter of the late Steele M. and Verdie Bolt Phipps. She is survived by her husband, Thomas M. Tucker; her children, J. Michael Gamble and his wife, Beth, of Amherst, Martha G. Dyke and her husband, Rick, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Mark H. Gamble, of Nashville, Tenn.; her stepchildren, Thomas M. Tucker Jr. and his wife, Krista, of Warrenton, Va., Meredith T. Lindel of Winston Salem, N.C., William A. Tucker and his wife, Claudia, of Amherst, and Preston M. Tucker and his wife, Martha, Amherst; thirteen grandchildren, Carrie G. Wood (Rhem), Elizabeth G. da Victoria Lobo (Nikhil), Ann G. Backof (Brad), Jessica G. Elliott (Cory), Steele H. Gamble, Emily Tucker, Ruth T. Horazeck (Christian), Cooper Lindel, Sallie Lindel, Mallory Tucker, Sam Tucker, Taylor Gauldin and Avery Gauldin; eight great- grandchildren, Witt Wood, Graham Wood, Emma da Victoria Lobo, Jack Backof, Haley Hatcher, Cayden Elliot, Ethan Church, Myles Thompson; one brother, Edwin S. Phipps of Radford; and two sisters, Barbara P. Rouse (Bill), of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Patricia P. Pafford (Don), of Amherst. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, James R. Phipps and; sister Betty P. Everhart. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at Tucker Family Cemetery, Indian Creek Road (Route 621), Temperance, Va. Family visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday, June 24, 2013, at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 401 North Main Street, Amherst, Va.
