Michael Bodtker Obituary
Michael B. Bodtker, 61, fell asleep in Jesus on Monday, Jan. 4, 2010, at Baptist Medical Center-Nassau in Fernandina Beach, Fla., after a brief illness.
Mr. Bodtker was born Oct. 20, 1948, in Bedford, Ind. He was a graduate of Southern Missionary College, Collegedale, Tenn., and worked as an actuary in the insurance industry. He was an employee of First Colony Life Insurance (now Genworth Life and Annuity) here in Lynchburg for many years; his last position there was as a vice-president in the settlement annuity department. Upon separation from First Colony Life, Mr. Bodtker retired to Fernandina Beach, Fla., and has enjoyed the beach and ocean. In retirement, he made an intense study of Bible prophecy, comparing various Scripture interpretations and translations.
He is survived by his father, Maxwell G. Bodtker of Fairview, N.C.; sister, Marceil E. Bodtker, and her husband, Ken Dougher, also of Fairview; and brother, Myron W. Bodtker, and his wife, AnnaLisa, of Hendersonville, N.C. He is also survived by three nephews and a great-nephew, all of North Carolina.
The family will hold a private remembrance celebration and interment at a later date.

I was just thinking about Mike the other day. It is hard to believe he has been gone 14 years. Sometimes it seems like it was just yesterday.

I still think of Mike often. As much as he loved FL, I know he is in a better place. It's hard to realize he has been gone for 11 years.

I was shocked to hear this news about Mike. His friendship (as well as his investment advice) was "golden". My condolences to the family. All Hail, Mike. All Hail!

I was surprised to hear of his death. I worked with him on his
accounts at J C Bradford (now UBS Financial) for many years.
We had many interesting conversations. My prayers are with

It is sad to learn that Mike has passed away so early in life. He was a unique individual who was always kind to me in our daily activities at work. My prayers are with his family.
