Nannie Jones Obituary

Nannie Mae Harper Jones
Nannie Mae Harper Jones, 90, of Lynchburg, passed Wednesday, Apr. 11, 2007. For 33 years, she was the wife of the late Samuel Monroe Jones who passed March 8, 1977.
Born May 27, 1916, in Henderson, N.C., she was the daughter of the late George W. Harper and the late Nannie Elizabeth Harper.
Mrs. Jones was a longtime member of Fairview Christian Church, the Rebekah Lodge and was treasurer for Fairview and Marvin Bass P.T.A. for 14 years. She had retired from General Electric and prior to that was employed at Consolidated Textile.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Jackson C. Jones; and by two brothers and five sisters.
She is survived by three daughters: Delores Crumpton of Dry Fork, Betty Rollins and husband, Robert, of Vero Beach, Fla., and Jeanette Tyree of Lynchburg; six grandchildren: Daniel Vaughan of Louisville, Ky., Sharon Glenn and husband, George, of Vero Beach, Fla., Wanda Collins and husband, Mike, of Florence, S.C., Alan Vaughan and wife, Rose, Nannette Lynn and Helen Tyree, all of Lynchburg; five great-grandchildren, Heather Inman and husband, Michael, of Knoxville, Tenn., George Glenn Jr. of Vero Beach, Fla., Simon Stevens of South Boston, and Joshua Lynn and Sarah Lynn, both of Lynchburg; one great-great-granddaughter, Caroline Inman of Knoxville, Tenn.; two very dear friends, who were like daughters, Mary Anderson and Helen Bertrand, both of Lynchburg; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 14, 2007, at Fairview Christian Church, by Dr. Don Wilson and the Rev. D. Jack Hamilton. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Family visitation will from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and at other times at the residence, 624 Sandusky Dr., Lynchburg.

Dear Jeanette, Lynette and Helen,
I was so sorry to hear about the passing of your mother and the girls' grandmother. I remember Mrs. Jones from our time @ Fairview Christian Church. She was always so kind and nice to talk to. I pray God will comfort and keep all of you at this sorrowful time.
