Peyton MARTIN Obituary
Peyton Roger Martin, 69, of Lynchburg, passed away Sunday, June 1, 2008, at his residence.
Born March 13, 1939, in Amherst County, he was the son of the late Manson Peyton Martin and Carrie Mae Martin, who survives, of Lynchburg. Mr. Martin was a U.S. Army veteran and was owner of a shoe repair business.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Calvin W. and John C. Martin.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two daughters, Kim Martin Rivera and husband, Louie, of Norfolk and Marty Ann Lipscomb and husband, Larry, of Madison Heights; two grandsons, Louis Kasey Rivera and Karter Lee Rivera, both of Norfolk; and three brothers, Carl Martin of Lynchburg, Phillip Martin and wife, Jeanette, of Forest and Ernest Myers Martin of Lynchburg.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 5, 2008, at Virginia Memorial Park by Pastor Bill Evans. A gathering for family and friends will follow the service at the residence.
Family visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and other times at the residence.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Association, 3512 Brambleton Ave., Suite 3, Roanoke, VA 24018.

My heart goes out to the family of Roger Martin. I remember him so well in my past. I remember him when he used to live in the trailor park on Candlers Mountain Road, and I remember him so well living on the land that he and Calvin bought together. I hope that you all can find peace and comfort in knowing that he is now with Calvin and Curtis. I'm Melody, Calvin's step-daughter.
