Ronald Viar Obituary

Ronald "Ronnie" Scott Viar

Ronald "Ronnie" Scott Viar, 78, of Lynchburg, passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at his residence. He was the husband of Pamela Morrison Viar for 52 years.

Born on July 6, 1943, in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Elwood Pershing Viar and Sarah Watts Trent. Ronnie was the retired owner and operator of Grogan's Garage. After retiring in 2014, Ronnie went to work for Calvin Smith's Garage, until July of 2021. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Ronnie was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His love of cars kept him in his profession for 62 years. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all that knew him.

In addition to his wife, Ronnie is survived by his daughters, Sherrie V. Snead and husband, Jay, of Clearwater, Fla., and Tammy V. Lugar and husband, Stan, of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Brenda Wright and husband, Don, of Madison Heights, and Rhonda Burch and husband, Ronnie, of Evington; a brother, Gary Viar and wife, Rita, of Lynchburg; and three grandchildren, Courtney Harris and her fiance, Chris Brown, Ryan Harris, and Noah "Henry" Harris. Ronnie is also survived by his four "grand dogs", Stella, Baileigh, Ace, and Piper.

A memorial service will be conducted at 4 p.m., Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Pastor Matt Wilkins officiating. The family will receive friends following the memorial service.

The family would like to thank Dr. Cecilia McCallum, as well as Centra Hospice, especially Teresa Mottley for the wonderful care and unwavering support during this time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lynchburg Humane Society or the American Cancer Society.

Pam, I knew Ronnie from high school and considered him a friend. If I had a car problem or a question about how to fix something, I knew that Ronnie would be able to help. I will miss him.
