Ruby Sandhoff Obituary
Born in Ira, Va., on October 17, 1931, she grew up in the mountains of Southwest Virginia with her three sisters. Their stories of plucking chickens, playing in the creek, helping in their Mom and Dad's store were reminiscent of the tales in "Little Women." Ruby graduated valedictorian at 16 then pursued her RN license in Huntington, W.Va. She practiced nursing for 45 years, retiring from Guggenheimer Hospital in 1996.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Jewell Marrs; an infant brother, as well as her three former husbands. She is survived by her only child, Pamela Sims Caldwell; four grandchildren, Bryan R. Ferrell (Erin), Kevin S. Ferrell, Justin A. Ferrell (Christina), and Dylan K. Caldwell; two sisters, Emma Ingram of Henderson, Ky., and Reba Pedigo of Greencove Springs, Fla. Additional survivors include Richard (Dick) Walthall, very dear friend and companion for over 50 years; six great-grandchildren, Hayden, Julia, Abbie, Lyric, Lyla, and Lynx Ferrell; as well as two former sons-in-law, Robert F. Ferrell and John S. Caldwell, and many nieces and nephews.
The family expresses their appreciation to all who helped care for Mom over the years but especially to Westminster at Home Hospice, Delores Nelson and Maiken Hackman for their loving care during her illness.
Per her request there will be no service, instead the family will gather in her memory.

I am saddened by the passing off Ruby. We worked together for many years and became the best of friends. I will always remember her smile and her mischievousness. The last time I saw her, she was walking out of the doctor's office as I was walking in. Naturally we had to rehash old times. Rest in Peace Ruby. We all loved you, but God loved you best. These are the memories I
will forever cherish.
