Ruth Shelton Wilmer

Ruth Shelton Wilmer, 96 of Bedford passed away Sunday, October 11, 2009 at Bedford County Nursing Home. She was born on Saturday, September 6, 1913 in Gretna, a daughter of the late James Shelton and Hettie Tuck Shelton.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ubron Bradford Wilmer; a son, Reginald Bradford Wilmer, one brother and five sisters. She was a member of Fort Hill United Methodist Church.

Surviving are four grandchildren, Mark Bradford Wilmer and wife, Pamela; Brian Scott Wilmer and wife, Connie; Craig Danan Wilmer and wife, Jackie; Lynn Wilmer Hardee and husband, Darroll, all of Texas; eight great grandchildren, two step-great grandchildren.

The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider Bedford County Nursing Home, 1229 County Farm Road, Bedford, VA 24523.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2009 at 1 PM at the Fort Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum with Rev. Philip Waltz officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 12 until 1 PM at the cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Bedford.
