Samuel Baldwin Obituary

Samuel Lewis Baldwin

Samuel Lewis (Sam) Baldwin, 76, of Sanders Creek Road, Dillwyn, died Friday, Dec. 31, 2010, at his residence. He was the husband of Rebecca Ruth Beasley Baldwin.

Born in Campbell County on July 24, 1934, he was a son of the late Samuel Monroe and Lillian Danielson Baldwin. Sam was a member of Glory Baptist Church, a plumber and a U.S. Air Force veteran serving in the Korean War.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Donnie L. and Stella Baldwin, of Gladstone; a daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Grey Luna, of Dillwyn; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Edith and Gene Davis, of Madison Heights, and Doris and Kenneth Baldwin, of Lynchburg; and five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, in Glory Baptist Church by the Rev. Jeff Worley. Burial will follow in Concord Baptist Church, Sheppards, with military rites accorded by American Legion Post #104 and V.F.W. #9855 combined honor guard.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today, Jan. 2, 2011, at Glory Baptist Church, Appomattox.

Becky and family,
Although I haven't seen much of you or Sammy in the past several years I want you to know I have the fondest memories of you both. I will hold in my heart forever the kindness shown to me and the girls. I thank God for the gift of knowing both of you. Rest in peace dear Sammy.
