Samuel Buford 'S.B.' Creasy Jr.

Samuel Buford "S.B." Creasy Jr., 83, of Bedford, passed away Friday, Feb. 27, 2009, at Bedford Memorial Hospital. He was born Friday, Aug. 7, 1925, in the Bunker Hill community of Bedford County, a son of the late Samuel Buford Creasy Sr. and Ariadne Withrow Creasy.

S.B. worked with his dad on the family farm early in life and then retired from General Electric in Lynchburg after 30 years of service. He was a member of Mt. Olivet Southern Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, a trustee and on many committees. He was a 50-year member of the Liberty #95 Masonic Lodge in Bedford and was also a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason of the Lynchburg Valley.

Surviving is his wife of 58 years, Doris Bays Creasy; two sons, Larry Buford Creasy and wife, Rose, of Bedford, and Charles Lee Creasy of Lynchburg; two grandsons, Larry Brad Creasy and wife, Greta, and Robbie Wayne Meador and wife, Jeanette; three great-grandsons, Logan, Chase and Brycen; a sister, Sara C. Kennedy of Bedford; and many nieces and nephews.

The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider the Bedford Fire Department, 315 Bedford Ave., Bedford, VA 24523; or the Masonic Home of Virginia, 4101 Nine Mile Road, Richmond, VA 23223.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today, March 2, 2009, at Mt. Olivet Southern Baptist Church, with the Rev. Wayne Murphy officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
