Shawn Christopher Butler

Shawn Christopher Butler, 55, of Forest, Virginia passed away on Friday, May 31, 2024. He was the loving husband of Robin Carter Butler.

Shawn was born on January 13, 1969, in Jonesboro, AK, a son of Dana Krenz Butler and the late Rex Butler.

He graduated from Brookville High School in Lynchburg, VA. He was employed at Umansky Automotive Group. He was heavily involved in Ted Ing's Fixed Ops Roundtable marketing group and Service Drive Live (SDL). He attended Tree of Life church.

He was a dedicated Fixed Ops Manager, known for selflessness and commitment to his team. His commitment extended beyond professional boundaries, exemplifying true leadership by putting the needs of others ahead of his own amidst his personal struggles. He used his own challenges as a platform to uplift others, showing us all how to face adversity with grace and determination. Even during his battle with cancer, Shawn remained devoted to his work, showing unwavering support for his team and the industry he loved.

Shawn enjoyed the mountains and being outdoors. He was very adventurous and was an avid lover of all things history. Many who knew him would say he never met a stranger. He was a devoted family man and loved his family. He will be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his wife and mother, Shawn is survived by his children, Chris Butler, Heather Walker (Gary), Brandon Butler, Lilly Butler, Ryan Maddox (Brittany) and Taylor Maddox (Tyler Richardson); grandchildren, Kaleigh Watts and Reese Maddox; sister, Kristi Faile; nieces, Lainey Faile and Trinity Butler; nephews, Logan Faile and Luke Faile; beloved pets, Milo, Marley, Murphy, Maxine, and Charlie the cat; and numerous family and friends.

In addition to his father, Shawn is preceded in death by his brother Rhett Butler.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 7, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg with Pastor Ray Kingera officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Interment will follow the service at Virginia Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or Lynchburg Humane Society.
