Sylvia Powers Obituary

Sylvia Stennette Powers, 88, slipped from our grasp into God's Friday, June 16, 2023. A Lynchburg native, she attended E.C. Glass High (class of '52) and Virginia Baptist Hospital. A professional nurse, she dedicated her career to healing others.

Sylvia married Ralph Powers, and together they created a lifelong adventure that carried them across the country and eventually around the world. Along the ride they made a family; Sylvia is survived by her children Donna Woolf, Mark and Lisa Powers, and Shaun Powers. She is also survived by her siblings, Neal Stennette and Patricia Covert; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Sylvia leaves behind showers of tears, waves of gratitude, and a flood of sweet memories.

An informal gathering to remember Sylvia will be held at Tharp Funeral Home, 220 Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg, from 5 until 7 p.m. Saturday, June 24, 2023. In lieu of flowers or gifts, her family requests that donations be made to the Hospice Foundation of America (https://hospicefoundation.org/Donate) or directly to a hospice of your choice.
