The son of the late Antonio and Clemintina Famighetti Volturo, he was born May 8, 1937, in Brooklyn, N.Y. He lived in his adopted home of Appomattox since 1973.

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife and best friend, Judy. They shared 52 beautiful years together. In addition, he is survived by his son, Anthony V. Volturo, and his wife Dori, of Indianapolis, Ind.; a daughter, Donna Marie Watkins, of Pawley's Island, S.C.; his sister, Rufina George, of Richmond; a brother, Patrick Volturo, of Ft. Pierce, Fla.; and his devoted grandchildren, Andrew, Lucas and Kate Watkins. In addition, he is survived by a host of nephews and nieces that will cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Richard Watkins.

Vinny was honored to serve his country in the U.S. Navy. He witnessed Christ in all things and all people and was a founding member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Appomattox. He is best known for his career as a master mason and carpenter, having built or restored many homes and buildings in Appomattox and Central Virginia. He was proud to be a part of Lynchburg Virginia's revitalization efforts and enjoyed the brick restoration work for many landmarks and the Old City Cemetery. Vinny's greatest delight was his family and friends and he treasured his time with everyone. To him, being surrounded by loved ones was a pretaste of heaven.

Volturo Family-
During times like this, words just cannot convey what the heart feels. While I did not know Mr. Volturo that well, it was so evident to see his love for his family in him. I am sure that God has been both honored and pleased with the heart of His servant.
You will be in my prayers. I hope that you find comfort in the gift God gave you- the gift of your father and husband.
