Adele Levine

LEVINE - Adele, of Oceanside, New York, died peacefully on September 16, 2018 at her daughter's home in Danville, Virginia after a brief illness. She was born Adele Levinson in Bayonne, New Jersey and later graduated from Syracuse University. She was a lover of music and the arts, movies and mystery novels, desserts and really good chopped liver. Most of all she had an insatiable curiosity and unquenchable thirst for knowledge about people and things, spending hours researching anything and everything, first in libraries and encyclopedias, and eventually on the internet. For many years she was the Human Resources Director for Group Council Mutual Insurance Company in New York City, where she cultivated life-long friendships. Since her retirement, she has been a dedicated volunteer at South Nassau Communities Hospital. She was an adored and devoted mother, mother-in-law, sister and grandmother. She is survived by her children, Alan, Jill and her husband Johnny, David and his wife Sheryle, her grandchildren, Elissa, Nicole and Taylor, and her BFF Lucille Weener. She was predeceased by her brother, Dr. Gilbert Levinson. Shiva will be observed at 360 Golf Drive, Oceanside, NY, Thursday and Friday, 9-20, 9-21, 2018 from 10:00am to 5:00pm and Thursday evening from 7:00pm to 9:30pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Lustgarden Foundation or Sovah Hospice of Danville, VA.
