Lovejoy - David Ross, passed away on March 8, 2025, following a struggle with Alzheimer's disease, just a few months after celebrating his 90th birthday, which he considered a wonderful achievement. David was born in South Hadley, MA, on December 27, 1934, and grew up in New Hampshire. He graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a degree in Civil Engineering and later received his MBA at Adelphi University. Upon graduation from UNH, David joined the Army and was first stationed in New Jersey, where he liked to say that he missed meeting Elvis by only two weeks, followed by El Paso, TX, and he then became part of the Army Reserves. David joined the Federal Bureau of Highway and headed west to help build the interstate highway system. He met the love of his life, Caroline McHenry, in Oregon where they married and then eventually settled in Dover, DE, to raise a family and where he was the Chief Financial Officer for the Delaware Department of Transportation. David and his family then moved to Freeport, NY, where he was the Superintendent of Public Works for the Village of Freeport until his retirement. Upon retirement David began his own consulting firm, DRL Enterprises, providing engineering consulting for the Village of Rockville Center as well as several companies, including Insitu Form where he provided his expertise on several projects. David enjoyed travel, including several memorable trips to visit Alan in Ecuador while he was in the Peace Corps as well as traveling to several European countries. He spent his retirement with his wife,
Caroline, taking numerous trips to the Caribbean Islands; as well as trips to Arizona to visit his daughter, Debbie, until she moved back East to be closer to family.
