I worked with Ed at Rice and have always held him in high esteem. He truly was a good man: honest, true, humble, just, fair , faithful, spiritual, loyal. He was a fantastic example and inspiration to everyone at Rice, especially to those students who needed a little extra attention. He instilled basic values and skills that led to success for many. There are many men leading meaningful lives because they encountered Ed in their formative years.
He worked hard for his family. I remembering him saying "Will it pay for my new garage door?". I don't know if he ever got that door, but I hope he did.
Barbara, the children, grandchildren, and the rest of the family, you know what a great man he was. Continue to let his spirit inspire and guide you.

My condolences to the Flood family. We were neighbors 45 years ago in South ozone park. I still have great memories of your family. I found the Flood family to be a kind, close knit family. Edmond and Barbara created this lovely family and from meeting Thomas years later I see the class handed down to the Flood children. God bless Edmond and the Flood family.
Sincerely Brian Mckillop
I had the privilege to have Mr. Flood as a teacher and coach. Sorry to hear of his passing.

On behalf of Ed's and my good friend, Br. Al Killelea, who has already gone before us, and personally, I offer condolences to Ed's wife, Barbara, and his daughters and sons, grandchildren, and brothers and sisters, and his many other family members and friends. If Brother Al could be here he would certainly want personally to extend his expression of highest regard for Ed and to be at his wake and funeral Mass, as would I, except I will be out-of-state for a leadership meeting. It was Brother Al who introduced me to Ed, whom I remember as a personification of the adage 'Quiet Is Strong'; Ed was a quiet-mannered, humble, wise, kind, gentle-man, always in professional bearing, and in his quiet way he was a powerful presence in any company, and a profoundly religious and spiritual presence to one and all whom he might encounter in his day. We Brothers who knew him even marginally will miss him, but also we will continue carrying his good example to help guide us along our way home... into God's glory... with Brother Al and Ed once again. Amen.

Although I never had the privilege to know Mr. Flood, I have had the gift to work with, learn from and be inspired by his son, Thomas, and know that a great man like Tom, has to be a reflection of a great Dad. God bless the Flood family and may you find comfort knowing that Edmond is now resting in the arms of Christ.
