Enid D'Arrigo

D'Arrigo - Enid , PDEA, passed peacefully on August 9th, attended to by her loving daughters, in Melville, NY, formerly of Oceanside. She was 81. Beloved wife of Jimmy; daughter of the late Jonah and Irene Kahn; born in Brooklyn, NY. "A woman of extraordinary vision and devotion" to the children of Oceanside, NY for over 25 years. Most notably she pioneered the formation of Long Island's first middle school, serving as its founding principal. She is survived by her beloved husband of 61, years James D'Arrigo; her daughters and fellow educators; Jennifer Zuckerman (Brian) and Dana Frankel (David), and the ones that made her the most proud, her three grandchildren, Jake, Mason and Nikki. Services: Monday, August 11th, at 1:30pm at Gutterman's Funeral Home, 8000 Jericho Turnpike, Woodbury. Private burial. Shiva: 267 Altessa Boulevard, Melville on Monday, August 11th and Tuesday, August 12th from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
