Palamara - Francis J. (Frank), a distinguished leader and respected member of his community, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2025, at the age of 99, in Riverhead, NY. Born on July 13, 1925, in Brooklyn, NY, he lived a life marked by dedication and service. Frank, a proud veteran, served in the U.S. Navy as an Ensign aboard the U.S.S. Little Rock during World War II, embodying a spirit of courage and commitment that he carried throughout his life. His profound impact on the financial sector was exemplified by his role as the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the New York Stock Exchange, where he contributed significantly to the workings of one of the most vital financial institutions in the world. Since 2004, Frank was the Owner of The Rinx Sports and Recreation Facility, The Rinx Preschool Academy, and Hidden Pond Day Camp. His love for the children of all ages that frequented his businesses showed no boundaries. He is survived by his loving wife of 11 years, Virgina
Nolan-Palleschi; and his children, Mary Ann Gessner (Bob), J. Francis Palamara, Diane Trupia (Peter), Thomas J. Palamara
(Laura Chiomastro), Ann Malone (Michael), Louise Sullivan (John), Marie Beattie, and Roberta Carnes. Frank was a proud grandfather to his 30 grandchildren; as well as a devoted great-grandfather to his 43 great-grandchildren. Frank was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Dorothy (Dede) Palamara; wife of five years, Mary Sposato; father, Joseph Palamara; mother, Marie Palamara; and sister, Marie Gadbois. Frank's legacy will be further cherished by the many lives he touched throughout his life. A Gathering to honor Frank will take place at Tuthill-Mangano Funeral Home, located at 406 E Main Street, Riverhead, NY 11901, with Visitation on Friday, March 7, 2025, from 2-4 PM and 6-9 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, located at 546 Saint John's Place, Riverhead, NY 11901, on Saturday, March 8, 2025, starting at 10 AM. Following the Service, an Interment will take place at Holy Rood Cemetery, 111 Old Country Road, Westbury, NY 11590, at 12 PM. Francis J. Palamara will be remembered not only for his professional achievements but for the love and guidance he provided as husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend, and mentor.
