I knew Coach Hughes from Grand Avenue Junior High School when I was a student there(Class of 1972). He was such a kind and dear man. My thoughts and prayer are with his family.

Mr Hughes was my football coach and biology lab teacher my freshman year at Chaminade H.S.in Mineola (1966-67) He was tough but had a great sense of humor and was one of the men I thought highly of and respected while in school. My thoughts are with the Hughes family.

Gerry was my Freshman Football coach and Bio teacher at Chaminade HS 1966-67. A memorable character and very nice guy. My favorite quote of his, "If you can't be an athlete, be an athletic supporter". My condolences and prayers go out to his family

It breaks my heart, I just found out. Gerry was the most beautiful soul, he always knew the right things to say to me no matter what the situation was and I will remember his smile forever. You are all in my heart, my thoughts and my prayers.
