I am currently sitting at the firehouse and thoughts of you popped into my thoughts. I first met you at a poetry slam competition in Suny New Paltz (Separate teams), and for the semi-qualifying rounds I heard one of the greatest poems that touched me so much... I vividly recall the haunting metaphors of the house and the ending line describing being worried that one day a man would have to leave the safety of his bones...
That poem... We bonded afterwards and carried a friendship randomly encountering one another at poetry events until I assume we both found our paths.
Such a tragic loss. You were such a beautiful soul
(Sorry for the scattered memories, but you had an impact on my life that is profound)

Sincere sympathy on the loss or your mother. I will always cherish the days spent at the McDermott household and the invitations at holidays when my family moved to FL.
