My Condolences to the Tull Family. "Doc", as he was affectionatey called, was one of my cherished music teachers during my Junior and senior high school career in Central Islip, often extending himself to his student beyond class. He is greatly missed.

Mr. Tull was my Middle school band teacher. I was a very shy student, new to the public school back then. He made me believe in myself . The world lost a very caring man. My condolences to his family.

To the entire Universe of Dr. Tull's loving family and supportive students, I was only a student of Dr. Tull's for one short academic year (73-74) but the impact he and Mr. Prussia (sp?) made on the trajectory of my life and musical career is profound. Not only did they guide me through a great season of marching and jazz band on my second interest - saxophone, but held my hand from the beginning to end as I made my first taped solo flute recording in the music theory room with what I recall looking like an Elvis microphone to submit with a flute application to interlochen, Michigan's National Music Camp. He was Always supportive, funny, generous with feedback, focused, patient and an excellent musician. I am sure I tried to stop by and visit after I left that summer, but sadly those memories have dimmed. :-( What is remarkable is that I crossed paths for the first time with Barry Crawford, another younger CI flutist, on or about the exact date of Dr. tull's death. Thanks to kathy Bracken and facebook, we realized our CI connection and spent hours fondly remembering Dr. tull's kindnesses, leadership and talent. I send my condolences to the entire Tull family. Dr. Tull made a difference to the people blessed to know him.

My condolences to Dr. Tull's Family:
As I look back over 30 years ago I had the pleasure of Dr. Tull being my music teacher. It was a great pleasure having seeing his face every week with that big smile on his face as he greeted every child that passed by him. He will truly be missed not only by his family but the students that he had.

Doc
I had the pleasure to have you as my band teacher for 3 years. I learned so much from you about music that I appreciate music much more today. I don't just listen to the words I listen to the beats. You were a gentle soul. I remember you taking the time & patience to make sure I played my keys & notes just right. Taking extra time to make sure I could practice for our concerts & my NYSMA solos. I'm so sorry to hear of your passing. It's been years since I have picked up a flute, but thanks to you I learned to read the music. You were part of CIHS Marching Band history. I'm glad I was part of it. May you R.I.P Doc

Doc,
Your love for your family, along with your concern for the students in the Central Islip School District made you such a special human being. It was always a delight to hear your stories when you came over to the District Music Office back in the 1970's where I was the secretary. In later years we kept in touch through your wonderful Christmas letters filled with Tull family happenings. You made a difference in our lives and we are grateful.
Your friends, Maureen and Gene
