Jane Greenwald Obituary

GREENWALD - Jane, 80, formerly of Hewlett Harbor, N.Y., died December 28. She was a true woman of her time. She was married to the late Phil Greenwald and was a loving homemaker, raising six children through the late 1960s; at which point she became a champion of womens' rights and an early opponent of the Vietnam War. In the 1970s, she was seized by the entrepreneurial spirit and founded an advertising agency, which she ran successfully for a decade. Afterwards, she traveled the world, settling for a time in Vancouver, B.C. In her late years, she returned to New York City to be with her family. She is survived by her children, Jonathan, Susan, Judson, Jennifer, Joseph, and Abraham; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandaughter. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, December 30 at Boulevard Riverside Chapels, 1450 Broadway, Hewlett, N.Y.

Jane was such a kind and thoughtful person to myself and siblings. My father Marvin F Wertanen married Jane in Scotland in the early eighties. They lived together on a hillside in Vancouver, B.C. overlooking Horseshoe Bay. My Father was so fortunate to have found a soulmate in Jane. She will be missed

A true friend hears you when no one else can, dares you to be yourself when you have lost your way and loves you for who you really are. I am eternally grateful to have known Jane's love and friendship.

Susan and family, I remember your mom when we were young, going to camp winston. she was always beautiful and so kind to me. I read the obituary and saw how much she did during the rest of her life. Sue, I haven't seen you since Boston University and would love to reconnect. My deepest sympathy to you andyour family. Laurie
