Joe Conlon was a friend and classmate at Niagara University. Always funny, ever determined, he was destined to do great things in life. It is no surprise to read the many tributes to this good and compassionate man. We will miss you General Joe.

I was new to the 800th.MP GP back in the 80's.Joe was a Light Bird and had us in the field at Ft Dix. He had us a t the small arms and grenade range after a night of O and NCO club, activities .We were not receptive to loud noises going off near us and were reluctant to join Joe's activities. Being the leader he was he called a formation and dropped us all for 25 push-ups.When we got to about 5 ,he saw the error in his ways, ordered us to recover and marched off into the woods, with that Irish grin on his face.

He was a great soldier, father and family man. He manner was so easy going and he loved life more than 90% of the people I know.

The light of heaven just got a little brighter and ours a little darker because he's gone. But I know in my heart that he will be watching and taking care of everyone he loves as he ALWAYS has.

I love you Uncle Joe and will miss you more than words.

I knew Joe Conlon for many great years that we spent in the Army Reserve. He was such a wonderful person, both caring of his people, and ensuring that the Units under him performed well. He was fun to be with, and will be sorely missed.

To the Conlon family: Although I did not know Big Joe as well as most I saw his work through the "kids". He must be as they all say; a great guy. frank campagne, weightlifting/wrestling/psych/soc/world history teacher '74-'90

BG Conlon was my first commander back in 1986. He truly cared about each of his Soldiers, and he was the finest example of how a true leader should act. It was a honor to serve with him and he will not be forgotten. I will keep his family in my prayers.

To the whole Conlon family - Joe was a great guy. As a teacher and coach at Miller Place HS I can tell you he was first rate. A caring loving person who taught his children to be respectful good people. Whenever I spoke with Joe he always put a smile on my face and was always a supportive parent who was objective.

May his soul rest in peace and all of you as a family can always be proud of "Big Joe" because he had such a positive affect on so many people in so many dinstintly different settings. He was truly unique.

Gen Conlon was a mentor for me when I was a CPT at the 808th Station Hospital and we shared a building with the 800th MP Brigade. Through the ranks he was there to listen and counsel when I asked him for advice. I respected the way he led and the way he took care of Soldiers. When I received my promotion to COL, I was honored to have him and my mother pin on my eagles. He was the guest of honor when I took over command of the 4220th USAH and was so proud to have him there so I could recognize the role he played in my Military career. He is an icon that will always be remembered and respected. I thank him for his mentorship and friendship, and I thank his family for sharing him for so very many years.
