Kathleen Carroll

Carroll - Kathleen Mary, 82, of Lake Ridge, VA, formerly of Great Neck, NY, passed peacefully on April 6, 2025. She was born on April 3, 1943 in New York to William Paul Burke and Agnes Gilroy Burke. Kathleen was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. She received her nursing degree and served as a nurse at Saint Vincent's Hospital in New York and in the nurse's office of Saint Francis Preparatory School in Fresh Meadows. Her compassion and dedication to her patients and Prep students were a true reflection of her loving nature. For her service at Saint Francis, Kathleen was named an honorary alumna in 1991.

Kathleen lived most of her life in Great Neck, where she raised her family and built lifelong friendships. She was a devoted and active member of Saint Aloysius Catholic Church, where she volunteered at the food pantry and at Open Doors, serving those in need in the community. Kathleen always volunteered as a poll worker as a civic duty on election days. In recent years, she moved to Lake Ridge, where she continued to enjoy life surrounded by family and friends. Kathleen was predeceased by her beloved parents, William and Agnes Burke. She is survived by her sister, Joan Livingston; her loving children; grandchildren; and extended family, who will forever cherish her memory and the warmth she brought into their lives. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 15, from 6 to 8pm at Everly-Wheatley Funeral Home, 1500 West Braddock Road in Alexandria. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, April 16, at 11am at Blessed Sacrament Church, 1427 West Braddock Road in Alexandria. Entombment will follow at 1pm at Fairfax Memorial Park, 9900 Braddock Road in Fairfax. In lieu of flowers, donations may please be made in Kathleen's memory to Saint Francis Prep.
