Nicholas Ferrigno Obituary

FERRIGNO - Nicholas, 88 years old of Flushing, NY, died, August 27, 2010. Nick retired in 1980, after 39 years of service, from American Airlines, where he served as a Senior Instructor in Maintenance at JFK and LGA. As one of the four DC10 experts for the airline, he opened all their routes in the Caribbean after the merger with "Transcarib." He was a member of the prestigious Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). He taught for a few years at the College of Aeronautics at LGA. The saying among "the guys" at AA was that "perfection was not good enough for him." He was very popular among the 3 Diamond retirees, many of whose annual luncheons he arranged. He was Founding Vice President of Broadway-Flushing Homeowners' Association, Inc. in 1964 and served diligently in different offices and as a member ever since. He is survived by his inseparable wife, Marjorie, devoted brother, Charles and his wife Gloria, and several adoring nieces, nephews, and their children an grandchildren. The cause of death was complications from leukemia. Following cremation, interment will be at Flushing Cemetery. A brief Memorial will be planned, with happy memories, as part of the October Meeting of B.F.H.A., Inc., and part of the next AA Retirees' luncheon. The family gathering will be private.
