I first met Paul when I was in high School and playing the guitar and singing on a beach in Long Island.
That was a very long time ago.
He loved music and writing, and we became pen pal friends via our shared love of writing poetry, which we often exchanged throughout the years.
I considered him a mentor, and It was delightful to get a letter in the mailbox filled with his newest creations, as it spurred me on to write more. He was prolific and not easy to keep up with, but gave me a great impetus to continue to write, for which I am grateful to him to this day.
Paul wrote heartfelt, expressive poetry and was an inspiration to me as a writer.
He was also an honest, forthright and thoughtful person, and we shared many memorable conversations on a variety of topics.
His wife Joy, their children and grandchildren brought him his greatest pleasures throughout the years.
He also showed a kind heart to the many cats he rescued, and was delighted to do so.
To Joy, Caryn, Greg and all his grandchildren, please accept my deepest condolences for your loss.
My love and prayers are with you all.
