Paul Wenzel Obituary

Wenzel - Paul H., 84, of Carle Place died Friday, October 20, 2023. He was born on June 5, 1939 in Pittsburgh, PA to John and Catherine Wenzel. Paul was the youngest of seven children. Paul enlisted in the Army at age 17. After his military service he embarked in the construction field, working for JD Poscillico where he retired from after 30 years. He met the love of his life, Louise Tegano, and they married in 1961 living on Long Island for many years. Paul loved sports and played hockey and softball growing up and throughout his adult years. He continued to play softball into his 70s. He blessed his children with his love of sports, making sure they all got to their practices and was their #1 fan at their sporting events. He was an avid NY Islanders and Las Vegas Golden Knights fan. After retirement, Paul and his wife moved to Las Vegas for the warmer weather. There he made many new friends and loved that he could play ball year-round. Paul loved having family and friends visit and welcomed many to their home and would chauffer them around the Vegas area for sightseeing tours. In 2022, Paul moved back to NY to be with his family. He lived his last year to the fullest, enjoying bike and scooter riding with his daughter, attending many concerts, enjoying good NY food, gardening, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Paul is survived by his three children, Paul (Cindy)

Wenzel, granddaughter Leigh-Ann Wenzel, Patty Wenzel-Lewis, granddaughters, Jessica (Tom) Bee and Dana Lewis, and Tom (Amy) Wenzel, granddaughter

Audrey Wenzel and his first great-grandson Henry Bee. Paul was predeceased by his wife, Louise and son-in-law Bob Lewis. Visitation hours will be held Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at Vernon C. Wagner Funeral Home, 125 W. Old Country Rd., Hicksville, NY from 2:00-4:00pm and from 6:00-8:00pm. Funeral service will follow at 7:30pm. Interment will be at Calverton National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Paul would want you to support any animal rescue of your choice. Thank you.
