ROBERT FLEMING Obituary

Robert William Fleming It is with great sadness that we announce Bob Fleming passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on September 12, 2014. Bob was born in Boston, MA, on November 30, 1943 to the late Leo W. and Ruth M. Fleming. The family moved to Cape Cod in 1959 and at the early age of sixteen Bob began his career in the auto body repair industry. He was the founder of Fleming's Auto Body and Capeway Auto Body, both in Hyannis, MA. Bob's life took him on a journey to Washington State where he continued his career in the collision industry as the owner of Precision Collision Repair Centers of Washington with service locations in Port Orchard, WA and Gig Harbor, WA. Over the years he contributed to the collision repair industry not only as a repair shop owner, but as an I-CAR instructor and member of Automotive Services Association. He further used his extensive knowledge of vehicles to educate fire fighters in the effective and efficient use of JAWS to access vehicle occupants. After retiring from the auto collision business Bob continued to share his expertise as an industry consultant in both Western Washington and on Cape Cod. When not working, Bob could be found strolling classic car shows, cruising Puget Sound on his vintage wooden boat or spending time with his family. His love of baseball was obvious as he was rarely seen without his Boston Red Sox hat. Bob leaves four sons: Gregory Fleming of Torrington, CT and Jeffrey Fleming of Suffield, CT, Bradley Fleming and Bryan Fleming of Edgewood, WA. Bob is also survived by his siblings Paul Fleming of Scottsdale, AZ, Rick Fleming of Mashpee, MA, Leo G. Fleming of West Barnstable, MA, Ruthanne Molyneaux of North Falmouth, MA, Linda Girard of Centerville, MA, and Joanne Doherty of North Falmouth, MA. His family also includes numerous nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son Jonathan (Jon) Fleming. A private celebration of his life will occur locally and in addition, the family will gather on Cape Cod Thanksgiving day to honor "our Bobby" on his favorite holiday. Remembrances can be shared at www.powersfuneralhome.com. In lieu of cards or flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in the name of his beloved mother, Ruth M. Fleming. Bob was truly one of a kind. I spent ten years with him in a small office setting. I grew to appreciate his knowledge and amazing sense of humor. He was a wonderful teacher & great motivator.

I cherish the days that he & I would make our venture to Safeco field to catch a Mariner game. Bob in his Red Sox hat & I in my Mariner hat.

He gave me an opportunity in the Collision repair industry when I had no experience. Took me under his wing & trained me in the way that he did things. I hold true to those methods today. I owe my personal success to Bob.

I will never forget you and the person you were!

I'll always remember a few wonderful summertime visits with Uncle Bobby back when I was little. One was a camping adventure to Maine in a RV with a few funny events along the way, another was a visit to a beach house here on the Cape. Little Brad and Bryan drove lobsters around the kitchen floor and Uncle Bobby teased us and made us all laugh. I was sad to hear of his passing and will remember those fun times.

To my brother, Bobby,
Words do not come easy as it is most difficult to say goodbye to a sibling. We were once 7 and now we are 6. No matter what, we are a family, through the years and across the miles. I will remember the best days. I hope you find your peace.

I will forever remember the trip that you, Liz, and I took to Provincetown and The National Seashore. As we crested the hill on Route 6 in Truro to our left was Provincetown, to our right was Pilgrim Lake and the natural splendor of the sand dunes. As you looked to the right a smile came over your face that I will never forget. I will go there again, I will bring you with me and will remember that day as one to remember forever. Godspeed dear brother, I will always see that smile in those sand dunes

So hard to believe you are gone. Though we have been apart for many years, I took great comfort in the knowledge that all 7 of us were still here. Thank you for taking such good care of us when we were young. It was so much responsibility put on you at such a young age. Rest in peace, brother Bob.
