MOODY - Thomas Joseph, born on May 23, 1939 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Manhattan. Resident of Garden City for 54 years. Departed this life on February 4, 2019. Beloved husband of Dianne Kohart Moody. Devoted father and father-in-law of Thomas, Jr. (Michele), Kenneth (Marisa), Donald (Patricia), Christine Alden (Darrin), Joseph (Dina), John (Justine), James (Tara), Robert (Anna), William (Heather) and Dennis (Amy). Proud grandfather of his 27 grandchildren, Devyn, Christian, Nicole, Morgan, Jennifer, Emily, Matthew, Ryan, Callie, Delaney, Lindsay, Charlotte, Patrick, John, Thomas (TJ), Jacqueline, Margaret, Dennis, Brendan, Mason, Tyler, McKayla, Logan, Cooper, Lila, Dylan and Hunter. Son of the late Mary Louise Lynch and John Moody. Dear brother of the late Jay (Barbara), Diane (Donald) Newman, Matthew (Arline), the late James (Dorothy), the late Mary Louise Guarneri (Joseph) and Kathleen Jantzen (the late Roger). His passion was his wonderful family. Graduate of Malverne High School Class of 1957. Served in the United States Army in Stuttgart, Germany and Fort Devens, Massachusetts. Tom was a proud member of the Garden City Fire Department. He was a partner and co-owner of Hasko Utilities Company, a family owned heating wholesale business. The calling hours will be held at Fairchild Sons Funeral Home, Inc., 1201 Franklin Avenue, Garden City, NY on Thursday 5-9pm and Friday 2-4 and 7-9pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at the Cathedral of the Incarnation, 50 Cathedral Avenue in Garden City, NY on Saturday at 9:00am. Interment will follow at Greenfield Cemetery in Hempstead in the Kohart family plot. The family is especially grateful for the care and compassion of Dr. Fred Glasser, Dr. Ralph DellaRatta, Dr. Michael Scoma, Dina Horowitz, R.N., and Peggy Feil, PT. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made "In Memory of Thomas J. Moody" to NYU Winthrop Hospital, Office of Development, 200 Old Country Road, Suite 570, Mineola, NY 11501, in thanksgiving for the wonderful care they have taken of Tom over the past several years.
