William Didie Obituary

DIDIE-William, Sr., 94, died on December 10, 2005, peacefully. Predeceased by beloved wife, Elizabeth (nee Hebron). Father of William, Jr., and Mary; grandfather of nine (Kathleen, Eileen, William III, Elizabeth Rose, John, Mary Elizabeth, Patrick, William, and Joseph), great-grandfather of three (John, Megan, and Isabella). Bill graduated from Saint John's University in 1933 after lettering in four sports and pursued graduate studies at St. John's and N.Y.U. He taught and coached at Richmond Hill H.S., St. Michael's Diocesan H.S. (now Xaverian H. S.), and Newtown H.S. Bill also served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Funeral Mass at Ascension R.C. Church, Elmhurst, NY, on Monday. Interment, St. John's Cemetery, Middle Village, NY. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Xaverian Brothers Retirement Home, c/o Xaverian H.S., Brooklyn, NY. Mr. Didie was basketball and baseball coach, AND Physical Education teacher at my high school in Brooklyn, St. Michael's Diocesan, during my four years there in 1946 to 1950. He was well-respected by all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
