Andrew Sheppard, III Obituary

Andrew Sheppard, III, 56 of Callaway, passed away Thursday, June 4, 2009 at his home.

He was born in Detroit, MI, and had lived in Bay County since 1996, moving here from Italy. Andrew retired as a Master Sergeant from the US Air Force after 24 years service. After his retirement, Andy graduated from Gulf Coast and FSU with a degree in Business Management. He worked as a counselor at the Keeton House, in Child Support Services for the State of Florida, and at his death, was a Probation Officer for Judicial Corrections Services. Andy enjoyed fishing, bowling, collecting eagles, and spending time with his family and friends. He attended Holy Hill Baptist Church pastored by Rev. James Barker, fellowshipped with the New Beginning Assembly of the Saints Church under Bishop Lonnie Mitchell, and was a member of the VFW.

Survivors include his wife, Doreen Sheppard of Callaway; his children, Crystal Richmond-Mars of Callaway, Coolidge Sheppard (Lisa) and Hessica Sheppard, all of Greenville, SC, Andrew Sheppard, IV of Perry, Fla., and Herbie Sheppard (Joanne) of Washington, DC; his mother, Annie Sheppard of Panama City; his father, Andrew Sheppard, Jr.; brothers, Wayne Sheppard (Joe Ann) and Kent Sheppard (Sarim), all of Sacramento, Calif.; his sisters, JoAnne Hardrick (Victor) and Carrie Lou Sheppard, all of Detroit, MI; his brothers in law, Alvin Maddison (Margaret), Charlie Maddison (Joyce), Dennis Mars (Gabby), Winston Mars, Leroy Mars (Lisa), Adolphus Mars, and Julian Mars (Claudette); uncles, Willie Ivey of Detroit, MI and Cornelius Sheppard (Dorothy) of Columbus, GA; five grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends.


Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2009 at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Barker officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery with full military honors offered by the US Air Force Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, June 12, 2009 from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Chapel.
