Daryl Summey Obituary

Pastor Daryl Summey

1969 - 2021

Pastor Daryl Christopher Summey, age 51, of Eastman, GA, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday, July 23, 2021, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, at Eastman First Baptist Church. A private family committal service will be held at a later time in Panama City, FL.

Daryl was born in Raleigh, NC, and later moved to Florida, where he graduated from A. Crawford Mosley High School in Lynn Haven, FL. He then attended the University of West Florida in Pensacola, FL, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, and he later attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX. He and his wife then moved to Eastman, GA, in 1998, where he began serving at Eastman FBC as Associate Pastor of Youth and Activities and later Missions. He had the privilege of leading many to Christ and faithfully discipling them. His ministry at Eastman FBC spanned 23 years, where he organized and led numerous mission trips stateside and abroad. He demonstrated the love of Christ and shared the gospel in several countries including Romania, Russia, Kenya, the Middle East, and Central Asia. Because of his faith and obedience to Christ, he fearlessly responded to wherever God called him to go. Daryl was a devoted husband and father who dearly loved and led his family well. He delighted in humbly serving the youth and his entire church family. Daryl's calling and steadfast passion for the Lord never wavered. He coached soccer for several years at Eastman-Dodge County Recreation Department, and he was an avid basketball fan. He enjoyed snowboarding, skateboarding, and other outdoor activities. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, John Edward Daffin.

He is survived by his loving wife of almost 29 years - Leigh Anne Daffin Summey of Eastman; 5 daughters - Charis Summey, Kaylyn Summey, Kinsley Summey, Christen Summey, and Babi Summey, and 2 sons - Aggrey Summey and Ddembe Summey, all of Eastman; mother and father - Carole Albea Summey and Dr. Delbert Clyde Summey, both of Panama City, FL; brother - Dr. Chip Summey (Amanda) of Wake Forest, NC; nieces and nephews - Andrew Summey, Audrey Summey, Jordan Lewis, Matthew Lewis, Kadence Daffin, and Kennedy Daffin; mother-in-law - Shirley Kent Daffin of Panama City, FL; sister-in-law - Kelly Lewis (Dan) of Panama City, FL; brother-in-law - Jason Daffin of Panama City, FL; aunts - Pat Ingram (Ed) of Mooresville, NC, and Peggy Cole of Winston Salem, NC; numerous cousins and extended family members.

The family may be contacted at the Summey residence, 2850 Hawkinsville Highway, Eastman. A visitation will be held at Eastman First Baptist Church from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 27. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Eastman First Baptist Church for the Mojdeh Ministry or Missions Scholarship in memory of Daryl Summey.
