James Barber Obituary

James Chesley Barber, 68, of Graceville, Fla., passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, Ala.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 31, 2009, at First Assembly of God Church in Graceville with the Rev. Charles Jackson, the Rev. Quillian Carver and the Rev. Albert Hodge officiating. Burial will follow in Victory Faith Tabernacle Cemetery (formerly known as Sand Hill Community Church) with James & Lipford Funeral Home in Graceville directing. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today, July 30, 2009, at the funeral home.

Mr. Barber was born Feb. 15, 1941, in Panama City, Fla., to the late Chesley Barber and Lizzie Mae Wise Barber Simmons. He was retired from Bay County Fleet Maintenance. Mr. Barber was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Graceville, where he served as a board member.

He was preceded in death by his son, Walter Barber. He is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce of Graceville; two daughters, Carol and Glenn Bishop of Bruce, Fla., and Brenda and Steve Rhodes of Graceville; brother, Donal Barber of Vista, Calif.; sister, Sarah Barber of Youngstown, Fla.; eight grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; 23 stepgreat-grandchildren; and three special friends, Joe Franklin, Billy Franklin, Eric Woods and their families.
