James Glisson Obituary


James Noah Glisson, 83, of Springfield, Fla., passed away on Friday, April 18, 2014.

He was born on May 22, 1930 and had been a lifelong resident of Springfield. He was a member and Deacon of the Springfield Baptist Church. James was a Korean war Veteran, serving in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1953.

James will miss the 55 Plus Club Members, where he was known as the "Ballroom Casanova" Thursday nights at the Daffin Park Club House.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lettie; one brother, Clay Turner; three sisters, Annie Pearl Crooms, Margaret Cox and Patricia Glisson.

He is survived by one brother, Edwin "Sonny" Glisson; two sisters, Jean Atkinson and Barbara Walker; and his very dear and special friend, Debra Nugent.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Young and the Rev. Don Hodges officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at noon prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Evergreen Memorial Garden Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Springfield Baptist Church, 3615 Third Street, Springfield, FL 32401. Those wishing to extend condolences may do so at www.heritagefhllc.com.
