Michael McBurney Obituary

Michael Lee McBurney of Panama City, Florida, passed away on Jan. 10, 2017, after an extended illness.

He was born Aug. 25, 1954, in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, to William G.and Mary Jane McBurney of Blairsville. Mike graduated from Blairsville Senior High School in 1972 and enlisted in the Air Force in 1973, traveling to Delaware, Alaska, Texas, Guam and Germany and retiring with over 20 years of service. He then settled in the Florida Panhandle and was employed as a contractor in Liquid Fuels Maintenance at Tyndall AFB in Panama City, where he again retired in September 2016. He collectively served/supported the U.S. Air Force for more than 40 years.

Mike was preceded in death by both his parents. He is survived by his sons, Daniel McBurney and Nathan McBurney; two grandchildren, Nathan and Autumn McBurney; and his longtime friend and companion, Sue Hepner. He is also survived by his brothers, William and Ronald McBurney of Pennsylvania; his sister, Deborah of Nevada; and numerous other family members.
