Richard Hanneman Obituary

Richard D. M. Hanneman went home to his Lord and Savior March 21, 2013 in Panama City, FL.

Richard was born February 6, 1984, in Antelope County NE where he spent his childhood. He moved with his family to Panama City Beach, FL in 1997. Richard attended Panama City Christian, Surfside Middle School and graduated with honors from J. R. Arnold High School in May of 2003. Richard attended Gulf Coast Community College. He worked for Wyndham Bay Point Resort since April 2005.

Richard loved his members and guests at Bay Point as well as his Bay Point family. He also loved his wild animals that he fed every morning upon arriving at work. He was an avid lover of all animals. Richard also loved the water. Whether fishing, swimming or boating, he spent every waking moment when not at work, on the Gulf of Mexico or at the springs and creek of Econfina. He loved his Ducati motorcycle and especially enjoyed flying. He earned his pilot's license by the time he was 15. Richard was a lifetime member of Bassmasters and a member of Sons of the American Legions of Southport.

Richard was a gentle, kind, free spirit who enjoyed life to its fullest. His genius, his quick wit, his empathy toward his fellow man, his jokes and drawings will be greatly missed. He, and his smile, will long be remembered by all who are left behind to mourn his passing.

Richard was preceded in death by his father, Roger Hanneman; his grandfather Gerald Hanneman; his uncle Scott Masat; his aunt Mary Masat; and his beloved cat Ginger. A memorial in Richard's name has been established at Bay County Humane Society of Panama City, FL. A private memorial was held at Bay Point on March 25, 2013 with a public celebration of life honoring Richard to be held at Econfina creek later this summer when his ashes will be sent to their final resting place.

Richard leaves to mourn his passing: his mother, Peggy; his sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Cody Kromarek, niece, Abbie and nephews, Colt and Zane, all of Plainview, NE; his maternal grandparents, Don and Aubyn Masat of Brunswick, NE; his paternal grandmother, Dorothy Hanneman; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Once again Richard we tell you….the sky will never be your limit.

I taught this brillant young man when he was at Arnold High School. My love and hope goes out to family and friends. He was a joy to teach and I will always remember the respect, concern for his school work, loyalty to his friends, and teachers he showed everyday. May we all be blessed because he touched our life.
