William A. (Bill) Mormile

William A. (Bill) Mormile, 88, died peacefully on October 2nd, 2015, in Panama City, Florida. Bill was born in Cleveland, OH, and lived in nearby Chesterland, OH, for many years where he raised his five children. Bill had a racing career that spanned 27 years. He raced stock cars and was a member of NASCAR's Sportsman division from 1951 to 1956. Bill raced Super Modifieds in northeast Ohio for 20 years before retiring from racing in 1977. He then moved to Florida and married Sylvia Pippins.

In addition to racing, Bill enjoyed boating, riding motorcycles with his youngest son, Bob, and was a faithful follower of the Cleveland Browns and Tony Stewart. Bill was very proud of his five children, and spoke of them often in his last years.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Rose Tolomeo and father, Alexander Mormile. He is survived by his caring and loving wife of twenty-two years, Sylvia; the mother of his five children, Lucy Mormile of Chardon, OH; two daughters, Ann Galiardi (Joe) of Mentor-on-the-lake, OH; and Carol Minor (John) of Chardon, OH; three sons, Bill Mormile (Betty) of Tallahassee, FL; Chas Mormile (Kaye) of Panama City, FL; and Bob Mormile (Valerie) of Chardon, OH; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Jim Keller of Lakeland, FL. He also leaves behind his faithful and loving companion, his adopted Yorkie, Molly.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Covenant Hospice, 107 E. 19th St., Panama City, FL 32405, or to a charity of your choice. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, October 20, 2015, at Holy Nativity Episcopal Church with Father Steve Bates officiating.
