Woodrow Wright Obituary

WRIGHT, Woodrow Wilson July 28, 1919 - Feb. 11, 2008 Our wonderful loving father passed away on Monday, Feb. 11, 2008, under the care of Hernando-Pasco Hospice after a long illness. Woodrow was much loved by his family. His loving wife of 67 years, Sarah Wright (nee Webb), passed away three years ago. They had six children. Three are deceased. They are David and his wife, Sherrill Wright, Stevie Wright and Marvin Wright. Surviving are daughter Betty (David) Spears (nee Wright), of Holiday; sons, Danny Wright, of Holiday, & Woodrow Wright Jr., of New Port Richey; and sister, Lucille McCoy, Tobaccoville, NC. There are four living grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces & nephews. Woodrow was of the Baptist faith. He was a proud lifelong member of the VFW and UMWA (United Mine Workers Association). Woodrow proudly served his country in World War II and was in the Battle of the Bulge under General Patton. He rarely talked about the war but talked more about it than he ever did during his last days on this earth. Woodrow was born and grew up in Kentucky and later lived in West Virginia, where he was a coal miner until he became disabled. He and Sarah lived in Florida since 1963. Visitation will be on Thursday, Feb. 14 from 6-8 pm with funeral services to follow on Feb. 15 at 10:30 am at Dobies Funeral Services at Holiday on Bartelt Road. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Woodrow's name to Hernando-Pasco Hospice Center. They are an awesome group of caring and loving employees and volunteers to whom we will always be deeply grateful. Dobies Funeral Home

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you wake in the morning hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there, I did not die!
