MARION HEIGHTS – Concetta "Connie" Barni, 91, of Marion Heights, passed away Sunday, Aug. 28, 2022, at Serenity Gardens, in Kulpmont.
She was born in Marion Heights, June 20, 1931, a daughter of the late Samuel and Francesca (Miriello) Rainal. She was a lifelong resident of Marion Heights.
Connie was educated in the Kulpmont Elementary School and was a 1949 graduate of Kulpmont High School.
She was married June 7, 1958, in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, in Marion Heights, to John Barni, who preceded her in death.
She was employed for 11 years at Geisinger Medical Center, in Danville, and for 21 years at Shamokin State General Hospital, in Coal Township.
Connie was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, in Marion Heights, until it's closure and then became a member of Church of the Holy Angels, in Kulpmont. She served as a eucharistic minister, volunteer for various parish activities and was a member of the choir. She was also a member of the St. Pauline Center, in Kulpmont.
Connie is survived by two children, Colette and John; a son-in-law and her "No. 2 son" Brian; two grandchildren, Anthony and Ashley; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Gabriella; and four brothers, Attilio, Anthony, Samuel and Rosario.
Connie's family would like to express sincere gratitude to the extraordinary caregivers and staff at Serenity Gardens and Advantage Home Health and Hospice for their dedication, compassion and attentive loving care. Thank you also to Father Andrew Stahmer for his spiritual care.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon Saturday with Father Andrew Stahmer as celebrant at Church of the Holy Angels, 855 Scott St., Kulpmont. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cemetery, Marion Heights. Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday with a Christian wake service at 8 p.m., and from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the C.J. Lucas Funeral Home Inc., 1053 Chestnut St., Kulpmont. Memorial contributions may be made to Church of the Holy Angels, 855 Scott St., Kulpmont 17834, or St. Pauline Visintainer Religious Foundation, P.O. Box 115, 1150 Chestnut St., Kulpmont 17834.
