COAL TOWNSHIP - Dorothy F. Balchunas, 89, of Coal Township, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2024, at Geisinger Medical Center, in Danville.
She was born Dec. 5th, 1934, a daughter of the late Leo and Angeline (Albrecht) Radzinowicz.
Dorothy was a 1952 graduate of Coal Township High School.
In 1959, she married the late Raymond W. Balchunas, who preceded her in death, Oct. 13, 2003.
She was a homemaker and seamstress for a local garment industry.
Dorothy was a parishioner of the former St. Stephen's Church, now Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church.
Dorothy loved her parakeet, Sweetie, gardening, eating out and shopping with her girls, watching "polka time" on PBS, exchanging cards and the occasional meal with her son-in-law, Chris.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Rosalie (Chris) Andy and Diane Harden; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and her brother, Leon Radzinowicz.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
BALCHUNAS - Dorothy F. Balchunas, 89, of Coal Township. A religious funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Coal Township, with the Rev. Frank Karwacki officiating. As an expression of sympathy, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the A.S.P.C.A, ASPCA.org/donate" target="_new" rel="nofollow">www.ASPCA.org/donate. The family has entrusted funeral arrangements to the James Kelley Funeral Home, 1001 W. Arch St. at Maple Street, Coal Township.
